Faroukh Mistry is an internationally acclaimed cinematographer whose work blends technical mastery with deeply emotional storytelling. With a foundation from two of the world’s top film schools—AFI in Los Angeles and FTII in India—Faroukh shot his first feature at the age of 25 with a legendary director, marking the start of a remarkable journey behind the lens.
Born into a legacy of cinema—his father, Fali Mistry, was one of India’s most iconic cinematographers, and his mother, Shyama, a celebrated actress—Faroukh has spent a lifetime immersed in the art of visual storytelling. His portfolio spans feature films, documentaries, high-end commercials, and web series, with over 1,000 commercials to his name and credits alongside Clio and Academy Award-winning directors.
Faroukh’s work has garnered numerous international honors, including Promax, Tellys, Genies, Abbys, National Awards, and Best Cinematography for a Feature at FIOCCI in Venezuela. His images have screened globally, from Cannes to Los Angeles, New York to Mumbai—always with a visual style that transcends borders and speaks to the heart.
As director of photography on the upcoming Jim Croce documentary, Faroukh brings decades of experience, instinct, and heart to a story that hits close to home for the entire team. His work continues to push cinematic boundaries, defined by bold vision, innovation, and a timeless sense of craft.
